Acosta team makes a difference for children in need
For the past few years, the Acosta Walmart Team in Bentonville, Ark., has been supporting Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), an organization dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need. Their mission is that no child will have to sleep on the floor because all children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads.
Over the years, volunteers from the Acosta team have helped with quite a few “build days,” days dedicated to building beds for children who don’t have beds to sleep in. Last year, the team hosted a build day and built 10 bunk beds. More recently, the team has helped with raising money to fund the beds.
At the beginning of the year, SHP set a goal of raising $10,000 to hold a 100-bed Northwest Arkansas Community Build Day this summer. With the help of the Acosta Walmart Team, SHP raised $3,150 to the $7,000 that has already been raised, exceeding their $10,000 goal. This $3,150 will provide more beds, meaning more children will no longer be sleeping on the floor due to the team’s generosity.
“On behalf of SHP, thank you for your generosity,” said Denver Renfro, Acosta associate and Bentonville Chapter Co-President of Sleep in Heavenly Beds. “You are amazing!”
